Read all of my musings of the world, unedited.
If you know me, or even if you just follow me on social media, you know I constantly am liking/commenting/DMing on everything.
Maybe for some of you, you find this annoying.
For others, I hope this quick message brightens your day, or gives you a boost of confidence, or honestly just makes you smile for a second.
So why do I do it?
First of all, I’ve been thinking about writing this post for a while.
For my graduate thesis, I plan to study the relationship between social media and mental health.
Let’s get one thing straight. Social media is BAD for us. There are countless studies and research that proves that scrolling through our phones looking at pictures of other people is genuinely bad for our own self esteem and our mental health.
If you think about it, this makes so much sense. Without going toooooo into detail, there are countless theories that prove that when we see our friends, or celebrities, or just people we follow doing exciting things like traveling, or eating cool foods, or posting #transformationtuesday bikini pics, we in turn feel WORSE about ourselves.
That’s why, for the last few months, for most people, I’ve been reaching out after you post something online. Whether it’s something I find super funny on Twitter, or you posted a selfie, I try my best to send a little positivity out online.
If you want to know more about this, or my thesis project, please please please DM me or shoot me an email or text. I am super excited to get to work on this project and would love to hear your thoughts and ideas.
This absolutely will not be my last post about this topic. As I learn more and more about this phenomenon, I’ll be sure to write more posts and keep y’all updated. That said, if there’s anything specific you guys wanna know about regarding social media, mass media, etc — please please let me know!
Only a few more months until I’m a MASTER of communication lol.
Until next time,
