Happy Friday everyone!
As some of you may know, it is MIDTERMS WEEK for grad students, so I am a little tired and tapped out.
A few weeks back, I handed my blog over to my BFF Allie so she could spotlight the awesome graduate research she was working on. I have this mini-idea that for weeks where life is a little too crazy for me to devote the time to blog, I want to invite guest bloggers to use my page however they need!
This is such a cool and collaborative idea to me, so seriously, if you're interested in blogging, have an IG account you want to promote, or just want to say hi -- let me know and we can chat about a blog takeover!
This week I am so proud to introduce a new face to my page. Jen is a fellow 2017 Bryant Bulldog, and just recently launched her very own fitness Instagram.
In true Briana fashion, I DM her on (almost) a daily basis, complimenting her workouts and recipes. She is such an inspiration to me -- which is crazy because I don't think we ever even had a conversation during one of our four years at Bryant. Check out her post below.
I feel the need to introduce myself, because this is something I’ve never done before. My name is Jen and *maybe* you remember me as that quiet girl you had in one of your technology classes last year at Bryant, or maybe you’ve seen me at Sissy K’s singing Beautiful Soul after one or two too many drinks.
I consider Briana a friend, even though we never talked back in college and only started talking once she slid into my Insta DMs lol. Her blogs have been really inspiring and have helped me and I’m sure many others deal with these past few months of PGL. She has such a kind, beautiful soul (how many times can we bring Jesse McCartney into this post? Let’s find out!), so when I got her message asking me to feature on her blog I did not want to disappoint.
You may have stumbled upon my new fitness account on Instagram. You may have taken screenshots of my posts and sent them to your group chats to laugh at how open I am there, as it’s such a wildly different approach to social media that I’ve never taken before. And if you have, that’s fine. To each their own. It’s something that I never in my wildest dreams thought I would be doing, much less enjoy.
Once I graduated, I never felt like I had control over my life (and as an incredibly detail oriented person, you can imagine how unhappy that made me). I was always focusing on my job or paying off my student loans or other gross adult things that I never took a step back to take care of myself. I tried so many “diets” and fitness trends, and I never enjoyed any of them or saw any lasting results.
In September I joined my gym, and in October I started lifting. It's something I immediately picked up on. I started tracking macros and found out about the witchcraft that is reverse dieting (ie slowly adding calories and upping your protein, carb, and fat intake each week). I'm eating more food than I ever have in my LIFE and am still losing weight and gaining muscle.
I've never loved myself more than I do right now, tracking macros and lifting heavy things.
I'm down almost 40 pounds naturally and plan to compete in NPC figure in the fall. It's a lifestyle that I'm passionate about, and it's one that I want to help others discover too.
If you're interested in changing your lifestyle and want to know more about how I got to this point, follow my fitness journey on Instagram and send me a message. My goal is to inspire others to lead their best lives, and I'm more than willing to help you do it. :) Thanks for reading.
Until next time,
J & B
